The main functions of the General directorate are: 

1)  the organization of the on payment of pensions, allowances, indemnities, compensations and other social payments (hereinafter - social payments) through payment service providers appointed by the beneficiaries on the territory of the Republic of Moldova, overseas, as well as penitentiary institutions in compliance with the normative acts;

2)  the management of the account of the social payments beneficiaries and the ensuring of term reporting of the amounts of funded, paid, outstanding and reimbursed social payments by the payment service providers, penitentiary institutions in compliance with the normative acts;

3)   the beneficiaries contingent's evidence ensuring by types of social payments, upon those condemned, as well as of all those living in placement centers for elderly persons and people with disabilities;

4)    the ensure of the quality of data input by the territorial offices of social insurance in information system „Social Protection ”, the monitoring of system’s functionality within the competence and the submission of proposals in developing and improving the functionality of the system;

5)    the ensuring of the deductions for the social payments on the basis of the enforceable documents, administrative resolutions which are due to be executed without dispute, as well as the recovery of sums by way of social payments unduly received;

6)  the process monitoring of social payments in compliance with the national and international normative acts;

7)     the cooperation with central and local public authorities, payment service providers, penitentiary institutions towards the achievement of the set objectives, elaboration and advising of normative acts pertaining to the social payments, as well as the propagation and the explication the legislation regulating its field of activity.
