Pension for judges
A judge who has reached the age laid down in par. (2) and confirms the general length of service and the length of service as a judge referred to in par. (3) shall be entitled to a length-of-service pension of 55% of his/her average monthly salary, which, for each full year of service in excess of the general length of service referred to in par. (3) shall be increased by 3%, but in total not more than 80% of his/her average monthly salary.
As of July 1, 2021, the retirement age for judges is set at 50 years and 6 months for both men and women.
Each year thereafter, the retirement age shall be increased in accordance with the increments set out in table no. 1, until the age of 63 is reached.

As of July 1, 2021, judges will be required to have at least 20 years and 6 months of general service and at least 13 years of service as a judge in order to be entitled to a pension. In each subsequent year, the general length-of-service and the length-of-service as a judge shall be increased by 6 months until the general length-of-service of 34 years and the length-of-service as a judge of 15 years have been reached, in accordance with the schedule set out in table no. 2.

The provisions of par. (1) - (3) of art. 32 Law no. 544/1995 shall also apply to judges who have served in international courts, taking into account the average monthly salary of the judge of the Supreme Court of Justice.
The pension for length-of-service established under the conditions of par. (1) - (3) of art. 32 the Law no. 544/1995 shall be calculated and paid only to judges who resigned and to judges who were dismissed from office in connection with reaching the age limit.
If the resigned judge is appointed as a judge, the pension payment is suspended.
When calculating the pension, the general length-of-service shall include the periods referred to in art. 5 and 50 of the Law no. 156/1998 on the public pension system.
Pensions established under the Law no. 544/1995 are indexed in accordance with art. 13 of the Law no. 156/1998 on the public pension system.
- identity card (original and copy);
- employment record book (original and copy) or other documents confirming the contribution period;
- diploma of studies at the daytime section of higher educational institutions (up to 01.01.1999) (original and copy);
- military service record (original and copy) or documents confirming the period of military service;
- other documents as appropriate.
- The pension is established for life from the date on which the conditions for retirement are met, if the application and the necessary documents are submitted within 90 days of that date;
- In cases where the time limit for submission of the application has been exceeded, the pension shall be granted from the date of submission of the last required document;
- Examination period - 60 days from the date of submission of the application with all the necessary documents.
