The main functions of the General directorate are: 

1)   the ensuring of the fair and uniform application by the territorial offices of social insurance (hereinafter TOSI) of the legislation upon pension and allowances granting;

2)   the process monitoring of the pension granting and the second review of the pensions and allowances in accordance with the relevant legislation;

3)  the developing of the required materials necessary to enforce the relevant legislation;

4)  the submission of proposals of amending and supplementing the relevant legislation;

5)   the communication with the beneficiaries of social payments, with the central public and local authorities on issues in the related area;

6)  the explanation and the propagation of the legislation on pension and on state allowances.
